we started gentle play because sensory play is genuinely good for children, and dyeing five pounds of pasta at eleven at night is genuinely not.
gentle play is a small family studio. every bin is blended by hand, in small batches, by people who have personally swept dyed pasta out of a floor vent.
we made two decisions early that shaped everything. first, natural materials only: plant-based color, real dried botanicals, and untreated beech. second, a quiet palette. most sensory products are as bright as a toy aisle, and for a lot of children that is the opposite of calming. our bins are soft on purpose.
every bin is photographed exactly as it ships. what you see in the listing is what arrives on your porch. no stock photography, no styled shots of something we do not actually make.
the boxes are kraft, the note is hand-written, and the whole thing is designed to be set on a table and left out. it should look like something you want in your home, not something you hide when guests come over.

gentle play is a small, family-run studio making calm sensory bins from natural materials. every bin is blended by hand in small batches, photographed exactly as it ships, and packed in a kraft box with a hand-written note. we started it because sensory play is wonderful for children and the prep is genuinely miserable, so we decided to do the prep.
all products are for ages 3+ with adult supervision. pasta-based bins contain wheat. some blends include tree nut shells or dried florals. the full ingredient list is on every product page under ingredients. if there is a severe allergy in your house, email us before you order and we will tell you straight whether a bin is safe for you.
most bins use a dyed durum wheat pasta base in mixed shapes, blended with untreated beech beads and shapes, dried botanicals, and a light natural fragrance. color comes from plant and vegetable based dye. nothing is a mystery blend and nothing is neon.
orders ship within two weeks. everything is made to order in small batches, so we would rather be honest about the window than rush it. free shipping over $95. tracking arrives the moment your box leaves the studio.
local pickup is free. choose pickup at checkout and we will email you the address and a pickup window as soon as your order is ready.
keep your bin sealed in its pouch or any airtight container between plays. store it out of direct sun, which fades the color faster than play ever will. never store it damp. done right, a bin bought this year is still lovely next year.
we collect only what we need to fulfill your order and send the emails you asked for. we never sell your data. payment is handled by stripe and we never see or store your card number.
