how many cups do i need?
our most-asked question, answered with actual numbers instead of a vague “it depends”.
the question we get more than any other is how much a bin actually takes. here is the honest maths.
our 40cm tray needs 6 cups for a playable layer and 10 cups for a deep, bury-things layer. a small bowl or plate takes 2 cups. a large under-bed storage box takes 20 cups and will still look a little sparse.
our rule: buy for the deep layer, not the thin one. the difference between 6 and 10 cups in the same tray is the difference between pushing pasta around and actually digging into it. that difference is most of the play.
if this is your first bin and you are not sure, the 6-cup is the right first purchase. almost everybody comes back for the family bin.
